CHAMINADE-MADONNA LIONS The Lions have reached the regionals 11 times since 1977 but have made the regional final only one time (2008). Chaminade has been in the regionals five times in the past seven years (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010). CORAL SPRINGS CHARTER PANTHERS The Panthers ended their 2011 season in the district quarterfinals, losing 17-4 to district champion American Heritage. Charter has played in the regionals five times since 2000 (2000, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009), getting to the semifinals three times (2005, 2008 and 2009). CORAL SPRINGS COLTS The Colts, who won the district title the past two years, made it to regional final for the first time in school history in 2010, falling to eventual state and national champion Flanagan 2-1 in nine innings. Coral Springs hadn’t won a district title since 1989 before taking the crown in 2010. The Colts also reached the regionals in 1982, 1989, 1995, 1996 and 2004, getting to the regional semifinals only in 1995. DOUGLAS EAGLES Douglas has a rich playoff history over the past two decades, getting into the regionals 12 times since 1995. It got to the regional semifinals nine times and the finals twice (1997 and 2009). The Eagles, who averaged just over 20 wins a season from 1998 to 2010, won seven district titles during the 2000s (2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009). Between 1997 and 2011, Douglas went more than a year between district titles just twice (1998-99 and 2010-11). It didn’t make the district finals four times during that stretch (1998, 1999, 2004 and 2011). FLANAGAN FALCONS The Falcons won three state Class 6A titles in six years, taking the crown in 2005, 2006 and 2010. The 2010 title helped earn Flanagan the designation of national champion by Baseball America. They also reached the state semifinals in 2007. Flanagan, a regional runner-up in 2000, 20002, 2004, 2008 and 2011, won district titles in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. They finished as the district runner-up in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004. NORTH BROWARD PREP EAGLES The Eagles have never won a district title but have gotten into the regionals three times between 2001 and 2011. North Broward made the regional seminfinals in 2001 and the quarterfinals in 2006 before its breakthrough season last year where the Eagles lost in the state seminfinals, 5-0 to state power Pensacola Catholic. |
